5:28 a.m. - Officiating is always a little bit better when you work one game and get paid for two. That was the case yesterday, even though earlier in the day I thought I was going to be working by myself. So I went from thinking I was going to work two games by myself to working one game with a partner. Okay, then, on to the next day.
Today is FRW, and today is the first varsity girls game on my officiating schedule for the season. I think everyone else in my crew has already had varsity games, so I'll be the last in the group to get started. I'm not concerned with that situation; there will be plenty of games to work.
After last night's game I stopped at HyVee to pick up some yukon gold potatoes. While there I also picked up a few items off of Amber's list. It's possible I also had some impulse buys while I was there. Dang, groceries are expensive. I had to get the potatoes, though, because I'm in charge of taking mashed potatoes to my mom's Thanksgiving lunch this coming Sunday. Apparently we are having Thanksgiving Sunday because my brother won't be available next Thursday. And who am I to complain about having multiple Thanksgiving meals? My potatoes aren't all that special...I'm just the person who doesn't mind all the work. I have to admit, though, that they do normally turn out pretty darn tasty.
One last item before going off to get some exercise...I can tell I'm getting older by yet another characteristic. I enjoy not receiving mail - electronic or snail. This morning I got up and checked my email and had no new messages. At school more often that not, I receive no mail. And I am perfectly content with no mail; I think that's because when I get mail, usually somebody wants something. Ya, I'm pretty sure that means I'm showing my age! I still say...NO NEWS IS GOOD NEWS!
