Thursday, April 3

5:59 a.m. - Yesterday was a bit of a blur....the weather was a rainy start, and then it was off to Andalusia Elementary to conduct some mock interviews with 5th grade students.  Then it was up to the Unit Office for a meeting that wasn't any fun.  Then it was back to ICE to prepare for the visit for Gregg Johnson, but that was at least some fun.  And then at home after school we had the Southwells with us for a bit.  I was gassed, so I went to bed around 8:30 p.m.

Today isn't starting out to be much of a nice day...weather is going to be drier at least.  And this dang weather isn't looking to make a very nice camping weekend.  Sometimes camping is working with the weather, though, whatever it may be.  

It is a day to celebrate paraprofessionals in our building and district. I've learned how challenging their jobs are.  Each day is different for them, and each week can be different as duties are added or changed or something special is happening that needs their help.   It's safe to say that our building runs more effectively because of their efforts and dedication and love of our students.  Thank you paras.

Wednesday, April 2

6:03 a.m. -  Yesterday was rough at ICE.  There was a combination of student things and parent things and staff things that just had me very busy.  The staff meeting after school went better than I expected.  There were questions and concerns and conversations, which was good.  Last night the election results came in, and we will have two new BOE members, as two incumbents lost their reelection bids.  

Today will be busy.  I'm headed to AES to help out with some interviews for a JA project.  Then I have a meeting I need to get to at the district office.  Then State Representative Gregg Johnson is visiting ICE as a guest for our student council meeting in the afternoon.  With all this going on, I hope there can be fewer "student things" I need to attend to.

Tuesday, April 1 - Election Day (no fooling)

5:30 a.m. - Okay, so yesterday wasn't easy, but it was survivable.  A couple of students were really struggling to get back in the swing of things at school, but we worked through that.  Also, I was visited by Mr. Bush and received an evaluation of sort.  I guess I wasn't fired, but I also didn't really seem to receive a seal of "excellence".  Just keep swimming.  Then after school I went for what hopefully is my last softball game...my freaking knee really hurts, and the "good leg" isn't really helping.  I'm still amazed I finished the basketball season...I really tore that left calf muscle and/or achilles up.  I was really hobbling around that softball field trying to do my job on the bases.  It's just know fun trying to do that when every step means pain...sharp pain.  After the softball game, I coordinated things with Amber, which means I went to Shivers where she was working and had supper and then she helped me drop off the truck at Slaydens.  I want the truck to get an overall inspection and an oil change.  This is the last step of trying to be even more confident that the purchase of a truck was a good one.  

Today, as the title indicates is election day.  For us here locally, it means townships and school boards mostly.  Villages and towns/cities may have some other items to vote for.  I'll stop on my way to school and cast my vote.  Then it's off to school and after school there is a staff meeting.  That could be an adventure.  It's supposed to storm tonight, and it appears to be off again and on again rain tomorrow.  The weekend isn't looking horrible, but it does appear to be cold - good thing I got the LP tanks filled on the camper because I have a feeling we will be using the heater.

I just looked at my to-do list...there is another meeting to that was scheduled yesterday.  I wonder what that is about.
