5:29 a.m. - Yesterday I started the day with ended up being a "normal" physical - at least a normal physical for me. Yes, I'm overweight. Yes, my cholesterol is a little high. Other than that, everything else is pretty healthy for a man my age. So I'm supposed to cut down on extra servings and work on eating healthier foods. So I got blood drawn there, and I got a flu shot. Unfortunately, I couldn't get a COVID shot there, which doesn't make sense to me, so then I had to go to Walgreen's in Milan, but they don't take walk-ins, so I had to make an appointment, which I couldn't do until 12:15. I already picked up a breakfast at McDonald's on the way, but I was still hungry, so why not go to Hardee's and pick up a chicken sandwich. Today was a day to feast, after all. I still had some time to kill, so why not play a few slots. I picked Rudy's, because it was close and then followed that up with a strawberry shake from Bowlyou's. After that, I got the third needle stick of the day, so I'm now feeling like a pin cushion and both arms hurt, but bring on cold, flu, and COVID season.
After the medical procedures, it was off to do some Christmas shopping - Southpark Mall, Farm-N-Fleet, Menard's, WalMart - if that doesn't get a person into the holiday spirit, I don't know what does. Actually, because it was early December during the day, the crowds weren't too bad. And I did get a lot of shopping done. I think I have most of the stocking stuffers completed. And I think I pretty much have all of Amber finished. I did give her one of her presents early last night, but it was something she had wanted for awhile. I think today I'll work on updating my purchase and budget plan. After shopping, I came home to Luke Jason! It was fun to see him; we watched Cars for awhile. When he got picked up, I said hello to Kenzie and Brinley and Brooklyn, and then I forced Amber to help me get the HHR to Slayden's because it's going to get some new tires today. That's right, between yesterday and today, I spent a crap ton of money. I guess I'll have to keep officiating for awhile. Did I mention I pulled off the fast food trifecta on the way home? Thinking I would need to unload the car quickly I pulled into Wendy's and had two singles and a fry. I suppose my weight and cholesterol would be even higher today if I traveled into Dr. Wang's office today. WAIT...I almost forgot one other stop before shopping - I went to have my hearing tested. That was a waste of time. I have ringing in my ears and drainage...duh. I knew that already. I'm also a candidate for hearing aids...duh. I knew that already. As far as the the fluid, I'll need to check back in with my primary doctor and/or get a referral to an ENT. Well, that ain't happening, so onward and upward for life. Maybe I'll address that hearing thing again this Spring sometime between basketball and softball seasons. For now, my next medical feature is that damn colonoscopy I have to get scheduled. IT'S HELL GETTING OLD!
Today it's back to school and finish the film Smoke Signals. I learned on Monday that tomorrow is a half day inservice day. I despise inservice days, but in this case, I'll take it. It's hard to beat a half day work day on a Friday after the week I've had.
