7:02 a.m. - Yesterday was indeed a long, long Friday. Many students were absent since it's a half day and attendance at school anymore is optional - especially on early dismissal days. The inservice wasn't awful; it was nice to have the coffee truck and a little lunch. All of this "community engagement" stuff, though, is irritating me. I suppose for many people all of this stuff is warm and fuzzy and welcomed. I think the district is paying a lot of money to a company to eventually make a lot of money. It seems to me that we don't need all the warm and fuzzy to get to the same end decision that everyone knows needs to be made. Andalusia elementary is a problem and needs to be replaced. The question is where to put it and what size of building needs to be completed. And that decision is going to make some people happy and other people angry. So after all this warm and fuzzy stuff, eventually some people are going to be unhappy anyway. Rip off the bandaid, get the pain over with, and just make the decisions.
After that it was on to Abingdon for a girl-boy double header. Both games were challenging to officiate, but we got through it.
Now on to today. I think I'm going to try to go watch some youth basketball this morning, do a little Xmas shopping, and then wrap some presents before heading back to A-Town and then United for two games tonight. Yes, it's not going to be a relaxing Saturday....Falalalala.
