6:21 a.m. - Yesterday may have been the most difficult day for the rest of 2021.  It wasn't horrible - just long.  Listening and viewing student presentations is challenging.  Last night, though, our officiating crew traveled away from COVID 19 - no masks.  Yup, we went to Davenport, Iowa.  The game was awful in the sense that Davenport West is very weak, but it was a little weird to be working a game without a mask on.  I have mixed feelings; I understand the need for masks; I understand that COVID cases are rising.  I'm vaccinated; I have received a booster.; I currently don't have any symptoms.  I considered wearing a mask anyway, but I guess I feel like I've done all I can do to keep myself and others around me healthy.

Today is Free Read Wednesday, and I believe I'm going to read A Christmas Carol.  There will be more student presentations, but there won't be as many.  I expect to start the film Smoke Signals tomorrow.  I'm not sure whether or not I'll be able to assign the essay separate from the semester exam, so I may make it part of the semester exam.

This afternoon, Shawn and I are headed to Orion Middle School to work a couple of boys junior high games.  I'm honestly not really looking forward to it, but I'll be with Shawn, which will make it better.
