Tuesday, June 8

5:49 a.m.  - Extra inning games are not an umpire's friend.  Last night the first game of our double-header, with me behind the plate, went 11 innings.  That's basically another half of a game, the temps were in the high 80's.  The second game wasn't quick either, even though it ended in seven innings.  We didn't get off the field until 10:30, which is a long night.  Did I mention the games were in Burlington?  And then I needed to wash my pants when I got home and ice my back.  So when I woke up at 5:30 this morning, the total amount of sleep was not the recommended eight hours.  Last week we had a night that was two run-rule games that had us off the field and home by 8:00 p.m.; last night, no such luck.  And that's how the world of umpiring operates.  We are back at it today with in Muscatine for two games, and then we drive to Riverdale for a Sectional Semi-final later this afternoon.  Today will be a long day, but tomorrow I don't have anything schedule (yet), and Thursday is only one game in the afternoon.

I did get to Gannon's Pool and Spa yesterday, and I learned more about the pool, which is always good but never cheap.  I new diving platform is going to be around $600, which sucks.  They can work with me on our new mesh cover to see whether it can be fixed or we need to order a new one, and that new cover cost scares the crap out of me.  I only hope it's $2,000 or less.  Finally, I learned what they charge to close a pool, and if there average is $400, I'll continue to close the pool myself.  (with Jack's help)

• Schedule GMC to be fixed when part comes in

• fix the license plate on the GMC (again)
• Continue working with TK to organize financial management things
• talk to TRS about whether or not to buy back years
• contact contractor for pricing - fix the green door, west basement windows, west basement door, and under the deck
