7:58 a.m.- Last night was awful. A smoke detector started going off at around 3 a.m. The first time it was scary...I was up out of bed and running around looking for flames and smelling for smoke, and then I realized it must be a detector battery going bad. I could have gone around and taken all of them down, but it was 3 a.m., so I went for the one I thought it was...mistake. I ended up getting up about five more times to make five more attempts. I didn't realize we had so many damn detectors in house! In the end, it was a detector that was close to the bedroom that I had passed under multiple times. Geez.
Yesterday was okay...got through the school day, learned a little about the new digital SAT next school year, and froze my tail off working a double-header at Mercer County. I did celebrate the day by throwing a couple of steaks and some pork chops on the grill.
Today I'm going to try to get the log splitter fired up and split some wood over at Shawn's. Later I need to go to a retirement party of a an old friend. If I can't camp this weekend because of the cold weather, I may as well try to get some other things accomplished. I may wait until tomorrow to try to mow the yard.
