5:43 a.m.- Yesterday was a battle - physically. In the morning, I tried out the Aledo YMCA facility again to see what mornings were like. At least for a summer Thursday morning, there were not many other people, so crowding wasn't an issue. After a good workout (at least good for me), I went to Davenport to begin talking with Signworks to see if/how they would advise me to proceed in the continuing effort to document and display the history of RR CUSD300. As expected, I departed with more questions than answers, but I knew that would likely be the case. I then went to CityBlue Technologies to see about their scanning capabilities, and they can't do what I want to do either - make copies of the platt map book I'm looking for. After that adventure, I made my way home to mow grass. It was hot, and completing the push mowing was a real struggle, but I got it done. After that, I took a quick nap, and then Amber and I went to Tucker's game in Alexis. I forgot, on the way home, I stopped at HyVee for some groceries. I mention that because, after getting home from the game, I grilled up some bacon-wrapped sirloin steaks. Even though eating after 8 p.m. is something I shouldn't do, it was a great meal of a salad, steak, and Amber's potato salad.
And what about today...should be another busy one. I want to get a workout in again, but it doesn't have to be a long one. I'm heading to ICE today because I'm expecting a shipment of activity books and materials. My window of delivery is 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., so that's not really much help. I do need to get some "yardwork" done at ICE, so I'm going to try to complete some of that while I'm there. My hope is that the delivery occurs more towards 10 a.m. than 5 p.m. And this evening Carmen and Caleb arrive! Tyler may be coming later or perhaps tomorrow morning. I'm going to try very hard to make Carmen's visit very relaxing and enjoyable for all of them as they all need a get-a-way from the summer they have been having.
On the international front, the Trump administration is pissed off that an early assessment of the bombing in Iran indicated that the actual results of the bombing effort didn't really "obliterate" Iran's nuclear capabilities. One theory now is that the efforts will actually inspire the Iranians to work harder to achieve the ability to have a nuclear weapon so an attack like that doesn't happen again. Trump's Secretary of Defense held a press conference with guns-a-blazing at the media - scolding the media for reporting the leaked assessment rather than praising and reporting on the wonderful job of the U.S. military. So rather than address the questions of the media, Hegseth attempted a "guilt trip" of the media and launched his love of the military. If there was ever a better Fox News host rant, I haven't seen it. It was almost like our current Secretary of Defense was in front of cameras while on the Fox News set; in fact, it may have well been Sean Hannity up there in front of telestrator crooning over King Trump. Sheesh, I'm looking forward to the day this shit show is over.
