6:33 a.m. - Well, Marshall County is lovely this time of year.  The drive to Midland High School was a long one, but most of it is four-lane road, so it's not difficult.  Plus, there is a Casey's strategically placed for me on the west side of Henry, Illinois, so that worked out well.  Last night I worked with two familiar officials, so that was good.  Plus, I got there early and met the two officials I'll work with on Thursday.  They are new to me, but I think we'll get along fine.   The "veteran" is a 26-year "C"...it was interesting that he asked me how long I've been officiating, which leads me to believe he wasn't exactly happy to be officiating a 1A girls regional.  He's from Peoria, so he's probably thinking this game is above him.  The other partner is a 15-year official; he's younger than me, and he appears to be an "up-and-comer".  He's from Bloomington.  His drive is only about an hour.  I'm wondering how the hell I was assigned a 2-hour drive...wonder if I did something wrong to piss somebody off. 

Yesterday was a half day at school for an "in-service day", which means the day seemed longer than a normal day.  Part of the staff meeting involved coming up with a solution for frequent flyer restroom users...I just listened.  It's hard to come up with solutions fro any problems that exist for immature teenagers that really don't care about school.  I had hoped during the "school portion" of the day that more English III students would have finished a rough draft of their essays - and that folks was just wishful thinking.  

Today will be challenging.

English III

• create the English III next day's agenda and schedule post to stream
• score assignments and record into Lumen as needed - n/a
• place remaining group video files in shared folder
• enter straggling scores for group projects

Other Things To Do

• send email reminder - Farmington and Brimfield
• watch softball video and take test
• plan and schedule South Dakota trip
• fix door downstairs
