4:42 a.m. - We made it through another Monday.  It was a 1:30 day, and it wasn't exactly smooth sailing, but we got through it.  And then volleyball last night went quickly and virtually problem free, so that was welcomed. 

Today...repeat.  It will be another 1:30 day, it will have its challenges, and then we'll have volleyball again.  Just keep swimming.  If we get past this weekend, we'll have a lot of camping for the rest of the month.

In domestic news, the government is headed to a government shutdown.  It would be nice to say it's surprising.  It's not surprising.

6:09 a.m. - Yesterday was tiring but productive I guess.  We got the camper back from the campground and what amounted to at least a little time in the camper away from the house.  Then I worked on the yard.  Then we had to get Shawn's trailer to Orion.  That left an opportunity to watch the Bears pull off a surprising victory and then a little Sunday Night Football before going to bed.

Today is a 1:30 heat early release day - at the end of September.  Sheesh.  Maybe it's a good thing, because I'm expecting a mess of a day.  And then we get to go work volleyball.  Oh what a lovely week ahead it will be that will then be followed by a long weekend for Karrigan's wedding.  Just keep swimming.

10:08 a.m. - Yesterday was a fitting end to a long week, but there were some wins.  We did get the certificate assembly out, and there were pictures of it on our newsletter.  While one meeting I was not looking forward to was canceled; another meeting I was not looking forward to did take place, and it got completed.  Now I have more work to do as consequence of that meeting's completion, but that's the way it goes.  

The good news is that I got the camper over to West Lake.  Even though I'm home now completing this entry, I did get to spend some time at the campground doing campground things.  Now I have to get to Aledo to watch some youth football cheerleader, and then I will get back to the campground.  Next week is going to be another long week, so getting some campground time in will be meaningful.

4:58 a.m. - Geez, it's been a journey to get to Friday this week. Yesterday was a battle, but progress was made.  Today is going to be a fitting ending to the week - certificate assembly, meeting with the other elementary admins, and a threat assessment meeting.  It's time to head to the campground after that day.

4:45 a,m, - A full day of school went by, and then I went to pick up the wheelchair, and then I went to the PTO meeting at TRE, and then I came home and went to bed - like around 7:30 p.m.  Yes, I was that tired.  I'm learning that these days that now start at 4:30 a.m. and are long days really cause me to need to go to bed earlier to have the best chance of having the energy and endurance I need at ICE for the entire day.  

I need a solution for the new student we have at ICE that has issues.  I don't have that solution yet, but I need one and will keep working on it.

I have a volleyball night tonight.  It will be nice to head to a match with Shawn to have some "guy time".  I think we are going to head to West Lake Campground tomorrow night.  It's probably not going to be an ideal camping weekend, but I think it will be good for me to get out of the house.  

I have a couple of evaluations I need to write up for a couple of our new teachers.  I just don't have the time during the day right now to work on those things.  I may need to go into the office Sunday afternoon/evening.

5:03 a.m. - It feels like Friday.  Yesterday was a long one.  I started with some wonderful CPI professional development.  While there, there was an issue with a student at ICE, which will create a lot of work.  Then it was back to ICE to start on that work.  Then it was off to Mercer County High School for some volleyball - which went the distance.  All three matches went three sets; it was a long night.  I'd like to have a short day today.

And it's not going to start short.  With in the first hour of the school day, we need to get ready for picture day, have a student council meeting, and complete a formal observation of a teacher.  Yep...life is fun.  I hope to also get that wheel chair this afternoon sometime.  

One good thing was that my reimbursement check for my knee surgery arrived yesterday.  My surgery was April 16; I guess better later than never.  I'd like to go camping this weekend, and the weather is looking promising.

Crap....I just remembered I have a PTO meeting today, but that shouldn't take too long.

4:34 a.m. - Yesterday was busy.  Our new student arrived and had some difficulties, and we got through Mrs. Zampogna being gone.  Today isn't going to be much fun; I have to attend a CPI training, which is basically going over training I've already completed in previous years and most of which doesn't really apply to me at my current level of students.  Then it's back to school to deal with any issues that happened.  Then it's on to Mercer County for some volleyball officiating.

4:48 a.m. - Yesterday was a day I needed.  I did end up getting in a workout, and I did end up attending church service with Amber.  We also checked in on mom and dad after service, which resulted in me taking some supper to them around 4 p.m.  Other than that, though, I watched football and snoozed.  And the Bears even won a game!

Today could be a real mess.  We have a new student arriving, and our school secretary is gone today.  Plus, I have a couple other things that I need to complete.  The good news is that I have no officiating tonight.

Sunday, September 21

6:30 a.m. - Yesterday was too busy.  I went to Boot Barn and Walmart in Davenport and spent too much money, but it was money that was expected.  Then I went to ICE and did some work to prepare for this week, and then I went to Eriksen Chevy and looked at a vehicle.  It was a 2018 Chevy Colorado, and I like it.  I don't need another "truck", but I think a mid-size truck would be a good fit for me and my needs.  

After getting home, Cole was here and I argued with him for awhile about politics.  Then we had to go get the Harrison grandchildren and bought McDonalds for supper.  Then I watched Illinois get their asses handed to them by Indiana.  It was like watching the Bears.  Eventually I went to bed and got a decent night's sleep.

Today.  I'd just like to work out.  I won't be riding my bike this morning, though, as the dense fog has rolled in and set up over the area.  Amber says she is going to go to church.  I should go too, but I don't really want to.  I'm not in a good frame of mind right now, and I really don't want to voluntarily take a message that is going to tell me I need to do more for others.  I'm doing enough for others right now...I could just really use a little time that I devote to my being and space.  I also could mow the yard, but I think that can wait.

7:22 a.m. - Today I have to get to Boot Barn after Tucker's game.  Then I don't know what the day will bring. 

Yesterday was a weird day.  I got home from mom's ER visit and slept until about 2 p.m.  Then I went to Bettendorf to get Amber's bike and fuel up the Ford.  Then I came home and just chilled out.  I watched some football, and went to bed and slept pretty well despite having slept some during the day.

Notre Dame plays this afternoon, but they are playing Purdue - should be a win for the Irish.

2:05 p.m. - Today wasn't the day I anticipated.  Last night I got a call from Aunt Mary, who told me that mom was really sick and having pains in her back.  She said I needed to take her to the emergency room, so about 9 p.m. last night, that's what I did.  We went to Genesis in Silvis because that's where she wanted to go, and we didn't check out of the emergency room until about 10 this morning.  It was a long night of sitting in an uncomfortable old chair trying to get a little sleep now and then between nurse visits and dumb alarms going off.  In the end, I don't think they really know what is going on.  They said she had elevated enzymes in her liver, but they also said they couldn't find a gall bladder in their CT scan.  Apparently it's possible to be born without a gall bladder and not realize it, but very rare.  So their diagnosis was some type of blockage in the bile duct between the liver and the intestines.  I'm not saying they are wrong because I'm not a doctor, but I'm skeptical.  Mom is feeling better, and she is supposed to follow up with a doctor on Monday for GI purposes.  I just need to make sure she is eating.  One of the stories last night she told me was that her mom, Grandma Sara, had an episode with gall bladder problems and just didn't eat, and that went on for awhile until she finally had it removed.

So now I'm back home after getting some sleep, and it wasn't the best day for me to be gone from ICE.  They told me they had it all under control, and they likely do.  I'm sure, though, that I will be receiving more work for me when I return.  I think today, I'm just going to relax, and I may go get Amber's bike over in Bettendorf.
